Kier has been appointed by Nuffield Health to work on a new £70M hospital in Manchester.
The new hospital will be located on the site of Manchester Metropolitan University’s former campus on Hathersage Road.
The new hospital will provide over 90,000 sq ft of healthcare facilities over three floors when complete and will include five operating theatres, an imaging and diagnostic suite, 50 patient rooms and 30 consultation rooms.
Kier is currently redeveloping Oddfellows House in Manchester’s central district. Once redeveloped, the site – to be known as Eleven York Street – will deliver 80,000 sq ft of Grade A new build office space in the city.
John O’Callaghan, Kier Construction Northern Managing Director, said: “We’re extremely pleased to have been awarded this opportunity to provide a state-of-the-art hospital in Manchester and are looking forward to developing the strong working relationship we have built with Nuffield Health in the pre-construction phase of the project.
“Kier has built over £2Bn of healthcare facilities in the past 12 years and we’ll be using our experience and expertise in this sector to ensure we deliver a world class facility for patients.”
Construction is due to get underway later this year with a completion date of spring 2019.
