Costain has been awarded a place on Transport for London’s (TfL) six-year Surface Transport Infrastructure Construction Framework (STIC), enabling safer and more sustainable journeys in London’s roads.
STIC will help ensure walking and cycling projects continue to be delivered to a high standard and will also make sure that London’s road network has safe and well-maintained infrastructure for years to come.
Through the award, Costain will deliver the following:
- Renewals work on much of the infrastructure that the Transport for London Road Network depends on, including its bridges, road tunnels and river assets
- Enhancements to these assets where needed
- Early input, design and construction work.
The projects will be key to enabling more people in London to make journeys by bike and on foot, this will help cut congestion, air pollution and road danger throughout the capital.
The framework will also be used by TfL, London Boroughs and other authorities whose developments impact on the TfL Road Network.
Nick Fairholme, TfL’s Director of Project and Programme Delivery said: “Our network of red routes are the arteries of London’s road network and play a vital role in helping people get around the capital safely, whether they are walking, cycling, getting the bus or driving.
“This new contract framework will help us to deliver further vital walking and cycling schemes across London and ensure that these important infrastructure assets on our road network are safe and well maintained for years to come.”
Sue Kershaw, Managing Director of Transportation at Costain said: “We have a long-standing relationship with Transport for London, and we will continue to work together closely over the next six years. As a trusted partner to TfL, we will carry out renewals work on complex infrastructure, which integrates walking and cycling within the Transport for London Road Network. Drawing on our extensive experience of complex programme delivery, our consultancy capability and digital DNA, we will provide solutions which maximise value for money for TfL and improve the customer choices for greener travel.”
STIC will play an important role in TfL’s work to support a sustainable recovery for London and the wider UK economy.
