BIMevoke awarded £500k+ Surveys & Existing BIM works

Northwest-based digital engineering consultancy BIMevoke has secured a NEC3 contract with Galliford TRY on the M1 Smart motorways scheme reportedly worth upwards of £500k.

The company will begin site works this month and undertake Topographical & Utility surveys with GPR, Control network and 3D Laser scanning – enabling production of a 40km long Existing BIM model (both above & below ground). Once delivered, Costain Galliford TRY JV will take the model through to the next stage of the BIM lifecycle – into detailed design.

BIMevoke’s work on the project will last approx. 25 weeks, with teams of up to 20 people carrying out surveys both day and night. As progress is made along the motorway, information will be fed back to the design office where model building and survey drawings will take place.

BIMevoke has worked with Costain & Galliford TRY extensively within the water industry for over 10 years, as part of the GCA alliance through Atkins. The M1 Smart motorways scheme represents the first time the Company has worked on a Smart motorway project despite having prior highway experience.

Matt Lees, Managing Director of BIMevoke, commented: “By bringing innovative deliverables upfront to this stage of the project rather than usually just in detailed design, it will allow the latter stages of the project to run more efficiently. The Design and Construction teams will be provided with a detailed existing model to interrogate and cut sections through, both above and below ground.”
