£172M South Oxhey Central redevelopment given the go ahead

Phase II of an £172M redevelopment in South Oxhey, Hertfordshire has been given the go ahead by Three Rivers District Council.

This second phase will see Countryside and Home Group partner up with Three Rivers District Council to deliver 174 homes, 7,500sq ft of retail space and a brand new marketplace. Already, Phase I – comprising 140 homes and 21,000sq ft of retail space – is well underway, with Phase II scheduled to begin in April 2018.

An 11 acre site will be regenerated as part of the works with space enough for 514 new homes. The development is a mix of private sale, shared ownership and social rent housing stock, ranging in size from apartments to detached properties. To be delivered over three separate phases, the entire scheme is expected to be built by 2022.

October 2017 saw the first new residents move into Hayling Place, a collection of eight three-bedroom properties – the first households of Phase I. Meanwhile, at South Oxhey Central, a collection of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two- to four-bedroom properties will soon complete.

“The regeneration of South Oxhey is providing improved spaces, services and employment opportunities within a thriving community,” commented Daniel King, Development Director at Countryside Partnerships South. “The first residents moving into homes at Hayling Place marked an important milestone for the South Oxhey initiative and we look forward to building on this momentum, starting on site with Phase II in spring next year.”

Sara Bedford, Leader of the Three Rivers District Council, added: “We are thrilled to see the South Oxhey regeneration scheme progressing and with approval now granted for the next phase, we look forward to seeing more new homes created for local residents, as well as shops and community facilities, which will hugely enhance the area.”
