Story Homes see their ambitious plans vindicated by Election result.
A housing company is taking advantage of the positive message coming out of the housing market by investing £1M on expanding its workforce.
Part of the Story Group of companies, Story Homes was founded in 1987 and has seen rapid growth over the recent years. Story Homes is now looking to add to its organisation further with ambitious growth plans in the next three years after being named in the Sunday Times Profit Track 100 with growth of more than 67% between 2013-14 and 2014-15.
A key part of any expansion is making sure the workforce is big enough and made up of the right people to make sure that growth plans can be delivered in the coming years.
Currently, the Company employ 184 people but in the next financial year, a further 43 full time staff members will join Story Homes.
The Construction Trade Survey released this week shows that it is perhaps a good time to invest in staff, with those who answered that particular survey showing that private housing output rose in the first quarter of 2015 according to 54% of building contractors, on balance.
In addition to this, the General Election result gives the Conservatives an overall majority and with targets in place before this to create 200,000 new starter homes by 2020, it would be fair to expect this buoyant push in the housing market to continue.
The decision to expand was made by Story Homes last year but a spokesperson at the Company told UK Construction Media that the General Election confirms this £1M investment is the best course of action.
They said: “The fact the Conservatives have gained power as a majority Government has led to continued confidence in the housing market.
“Although our decision to invest £1M in our workforce was made before the Election, the stability offered by a majority Government with a commitment to supporting home building offers further confirmation that decision was the right one to take.”
Graduate programme apprenticeships as well as a staff development scheme will help to find the new employees in the next year.
