57 contractors chosen for developments that will provide local employment.
Efficiency North has announced the winners of its £360M framework contract.
Founded in 2006, Efficiency North is a consortium of social housing providers who will work to bring about long-term sustainable efficiency savings in both the construction and maintenance supply chains.
Providing social housing procurement solutions for Yorkshire, Humber and the wider region, Efficiency North will also provide wider economic and social benefits.
The consortium already has a track record of delivering more than £100M of efficiencies in its nine years and this is set to continue now that contracts have been awarded in the new Procure Installers framework.
Lasting for four years, the framework has seen 57 contractors awarded with contracts. Efficiency North knows all about the quality of many, with almost 50% having worked on the previous Efficiency North Procure Elemental Works framework, which finishes at the end of this year.
Comprising a range of services such as building works, external development, improvement to estates, house improvements and a variety of internal installations, the framework gives opportunities for contractors of varying sizes.
Of the 57 appointed, there are 60% who are SMEs, so it is not just a project that encompasses the larger companies and main contractors.
All of the contractors who undertake a project that is more than £500,000 in value will be obliged to employ one person in a full-time capacity, so that not only the housing in the area will benefit, but also, local employment figures.
In the first year, it is expected that 80 jobs will be created throughout the region, half of which have been identified already.
Lee Parkinson is the CEO of Efficiency North Ltd and he explained why the consortium has chosen the 57 contractors who have been appointed.
He said: “I’m very pleased that the framework has achieved such an excellent offer, with a great mix of larger national players as well as smaller businesses able to deliver a wide range of works across Yorkshire and Humber.
“All the appointed contractors demonstrated not only improved certainty in costs and quality but also a real commitment and understanding of how they can contribute to the added value outcomes the framework aims to achieve to boost development of the region’s future workforce.
“This model of framework is the next generation of intelligent procurement solutions that Efficiency North will offer to its members based upon a full suite of competitive rates for works moving away from mini competitions to work allocations relative to a contractor performance and capacity.”
The contractors were appointed to at least one of the lots in the framework, of which there were more than 50.
Companies that have been appointed include Keepmoat Property Services, Kier Services Ltd, Esh Construction Ltd, Wates Construction Ltd, and Willmott Dixon Ltd, alongside many more.
