Balfour Beatty have been awarded £35M contract to start the first phase of The Royal National Orthopedic Hospital (RNOH).
International infrastructure group, Balfour Beatty will be delivering the first phase of the redevelopment of The Royal National Orthopedic Hospital (RNOH) in North London.
The £35M development will involve the construction of a new five-storey impatient ward facility which will accommodate up to 123 people. The facility will be home to a series of rehabilitation therapy and recreation suites for the specialist Neuro Musculoskeletal Orthopaedic Hospital, based in Stanmore.
The works are being carried out on behalf of the RNOH NHS Trust.
David Kennedy, Managing Director for Balfour Beatty’s Regional London business said, “There has been significant interest and support from Harrow Borough Council and the local community for the redevelopment of this historic hospital. We look forward to delivering the initial phase of what will be a first-class facility for patients of this world renowned hospital.
“Our experience in the healthcare construction sector will enable us to minimise the construction programme for this complex scheme, through utilising capabilities such as our integrated in-house 4D modelling capability throughout the project lifecycle”.
Frank Hennessy, Director of Redevelopment at the Trust said, “The Trust is delighted to see the commencement of the redevelopment of the hospital. This contract with Balfour Beatty represents the first step towards the complete replacement of the existing outdated infrastructure at Stanmore. Further phases are already at an advanced planning stage and will be implemented over the following decade or so”.
The project as its peak will create over 200 jobs, with a specific focus on the employment of local labour and SMEs.
