Maidenhill development to bring new community to Glasgow

New community for Glasgow given green light for new neighbourhood with 834 new homes.

A brand new community in Glasgow has been approved by East Renfrewshire Council, comprised of 834 new homes, including 209 affordable homes.

The Maidenhill, Newton Mearns development between CALA Homes (West) and Taylor Wimpey West Scotland will see significant investment in the area.

The properties will range from one bedroom flats to five bedroom detached homes.

The developers will provide land and funding for the construction of a new community primary school, incorporating a nursery along with sports and play facilities. Maidenhill Primary is due to open in 2019, and will be delivered by East Renfrewshire Council. A total of 444 primary school places and 120 nursery places will be offered, plus a multi-use games area (MUGA) and 3G pitch, which will be open for use by the wider community.

There will also be community religious facility.

Generous public open space will be a main feature of Maidenhill, with 135,145 square metres – the equivalent of 19 football pitches – remaining as communal greenspace.

There will be a host of small parks also spread throughout the development.

In addition to the transport links and amenities already available, there will be additional new public transport links, providing better connectivity to the town. The area will be developed with pedestrians and cyclists in mind.

Our first on-site priority will be to build roads and the framework to enable delivery of the new school located at the heart of the development, which is targeted to open in two years’ time.
