Airbus apprenticeship initiative backed by Welsh Secretary

Welsh Secretary, Stephen Crabb has backed the Airbus apprenticeship initiative where information on craft, apprenticeships and sponsored degrees will be available to students, parents or anybody interested in a career in engineering or business.

Airbus has invited anybody interested in pursuing a career in aerospace to visit their giant A380 wing factory later this week to find out more details about the early career schemes.

The Apprenticeship Information Event will provide the opportunity to speak to representatives from Airbus and their partnership educational institutions, in addition to Airbus’ supply companies who will on hand to provide details on their apprenticeship schemes.

The Secretary commented: “For people with a passion for technology, manufacturing or aerospace, the Airbus apprenticeship information day could provide a foot in the door for a high flying career.

“Many people on the executive boards of Wales’ leading companies are former apprentices and the business leaders of the future are just as likely to come from the factory floor as the university lecture theatre.

“I hope that people from all backgrounds and parts of Wales will seize this opportunity to get a rare insight into a hugely exciting industry.”

The event will take place on Saturday 14 November at the Airbus West Factory in Broughton, Flintshire.
