HS2 Ltd to recruit community engagement specialists to listen to community

HS2 Ltd will recruit a team of dedicated community engagement specialists to listen to local concerns around HS2.

The team will be recruited to listen, understand and respond to the views of people living along the route of HS2, following feedback from the projects Residents’ Commissioner, local authorities and local communities.

There will be eleven specialist roles in regions along the proposed route of Phase One of HS2, between London and the West Midlands.

The team will run local information events and regularly communicate with communities to ensure that everyone who is affected by HS2 gets to voice their concerns, and that the organisations involved in HS2 listens to and acts on people’s concerns.

The involvement of locals will also allow HS2 to better understand the unique needs of each community as HS2 moves towards construction. The lives of local residents and businesses who live and work along the line will be affected in different ways as the major works begin.

The successful candidates will be the people that communities go to and will be integral in identifying local issues, needs and requirements.

HS2 Ltd Senior Area Engagement Manager, Jonathan Lord said: “We are looking to build a strong team of experienced community engagement specialists to put the concerns of people at the heart of what we do and to give us a thorough understanding of local issues.

“We need to continue to listen to and act on local concerns about HS2 and having the right people on the ground is critical to our community engagement.”
