Midas Group donates over 800 hours of construction work

Staff working at the Midas Group have donated 833 of work during Community Engagement Week, to help support good causes.

One of the largest independant construction companies in the UK, the Midas Group, have donated 833 hours of volunteer week to help support good causes across the South of England and Wales.

The company’s annual Community Engagement Week saw hundreds of staff volunteer to work on projects in the South West, South East and Wales.

Midas were additionally able to obtain thousands of pounds of donated supplies and materials from their supply chain partners.

Midas teams worked on a range of community projects, including refurbishing popular community buildings such as the Sea Cadets & Royal Marine Cadets Unit and Cotham Park RFC in Bristol, painting and decorating for a Paignton based charity that supports people in need, apple harvesting for Killerton House, in Devon, and creating a community workshop space for Great Oaks School in Southampton.

Michelle Cole, Community Engagement Manager for Midas Group, said: “We had a tremendous response from staff who were happy to donate their time and energy to support great causes within the communities they live and work in. The Midas Community Engagement week is an important event in the company’s annual calendar and I know that everyone involved was delighted to be able to help out.”

The work carried out in Bristol alone delivered an equivalent value of £16,292.91 in materials, plant and labour combined.

Lt (SCC) Bob Russell RNR, Commanding Officer for the Bristol Adventure Sea Cadets, said: “All the staff at Midas and their supply chain who have supported Bristol Adventure have all done a marvelous job. The improvement to the main deck will make a huge difference to our cadets, and is a much nicer, and warmer, environment.”

Dave Jolly, a ranger with the outdoors team at Killerton near Exeter, said volunteers play a big role in supporting the National Trust. He said: “I want to thank the Midas team for coming to Killerton to help us with our work. Midas is a very busy organisation, so to have a group from the company come down each day giving their time in supporting us was remarkable.”
