Company reaches agreement on two new projects.
Galliford Try, a FTSE 250 housebuilding and construction group, has just announced its part in £121.75M worth of contracts.
A major city office development and a Shetland high school are the two new projects to be handled by the Company.
Galliford Try will be responsible for Phase I of the Arena Central scheme in central Birmingham, earning them a £66M construction contract.
Developer ACDL, a joint venture between Miller Developments and Pro Vinci Asset Management, has selected Galliford Try to construct the 2 Arena Central building. The building will offer 210,000sq ft of office space to accommodate over 2,500 people.
The contract also covers the creation of a new public square and outdoor space at Bank Court, which will require extensive landscaping and external public realm works.
The Arena Central Scheme was designed to meet increasing demand for high quality office space in Birmingham. The site is adjacent to Centenary Square near the new Library of Birmingham.
Greg Fitzgerald, Executive Chairman of Galliford Try, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to construct such a prestigious development in this key regeneration area for the city of Birmingham. Galliford Try has a strong presence in the West Midlands and we look forward to delivering for our partners at ACDL and producing a landmark scheme for them.”
This deal follows the announcement of the £55.75M Anderson High School agreement.
Morrison Construction, one of Galliford Try’s seven operating businesses, recently reached financial close on the hub North Scotland contract.
The Shetland Islands Council project will result in a new four-storey structure designed to replace the existing high school on the Clickimin site in Lerwick. The new building will allow for up to 1,180 pupils.
Morrison Construction will handle works on a three-storey 100-bed residential block and associated infrastructure, in addition to the school itself.
Galliford Try Executive Chairman, Greg Fitzgerald added: “The new Anderson High School represents a significant investment by the Shetland Islands Council on behalf of the community it serves and we are delighted to be working with it to provide a facility the people of Shetland can be proud of.
“This latest contract complements our growing portfolio of construction projects for the education sector and through working closely with all stakeholders, we will deliver a building with first-class facilities which will greatly benefit the local community and enhance the facilities for education in the region.”
Galliford Try Investments will invest £1.7M in the project’s funding.
