Snakes on a site

From a fully grown 32ft Cobra in Brazil, to a 12ft python in China, construction workers are faced with snakes on sites.

A group of builders in China recently found a 12ft python at a building site in Youxi Country, Fujan Province.

A python measuring 12ft in length and weighing seven stone has been found on a construction site in Youxi, China, by a group of construction workers.

After it was reported to the police, a snake expert went to the site to remove the python, which is thought to be around 100 years old.

The expert removed the python without the use of any equipment.

Once removed from the site, forest security from the area went to check on the python and ensure that it was healthy and had not suffered any trauma. Police said it was later released into the wild at a safer location, unharmed.

It is thought that the reptile was a reticulated python (Python reticulatus) – one of the world’s longest snake species, mostly found in forested areas.

Under the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s red list, these snakes are listed as “vulnerable” and under threat in China due to illegal trade, and has been heavily impacted by overexploitation for food and skins.

What was reported to be “the biggest snake in history” was also discovered by builders, who were building Brazil’s Belo Monte Dam. The workers rigged a nearby cave with explosives, only to be greeting by a 32ft cobra, that in places measured 1m in width.

Sitting across the Xingu River deep in the Amazon rainforest, it has caused controversy because it will cause hundreds of square miles of flooding.
