University of Salford to offer accelerated construction degrees

From September 2016, The University of Salford will offer accelerated construction degrees that will take full time students just two years to complete.

The degrees are a first for the UK construction and property industries and will go some way to help tackle the skills shortage.

For those people in work who wish to study on a part-time basis, the accelerated course will take just 36 months rather the norm of 57 months.

The programme will still provide the same learning experience for students as a traditional degree programme but will see them study in three trimensters in each calendar year.

Students will also benefit by only having to pay fees over two years rather than three, meaning a saving of £9,000.

Professor Hisham Elkadi, Dean of the University’s School of the Built Environment, said: “This is all about organising our provision around the market and creating a service of quality education which suits the needs of learners and employers.

“We will still offer the traditional degree format but are truly delighted to be offering an alternative for those who are keen to progress more rapidly into the profession.

“At Salford we have a long tradition of working with industry and we believe this innovative approach reinforces our position as one of the top built environment schools in the UK and the world”.

From September this year, the University of Salford will offer accredited degrees for both dull time and part time students in Architectural Design & Technology, Building Surveying, Construction Project Management, Quantity Surveying, and Property and Real Estate.
