The Walk, a £7M redevelopment of a derelict former office building in the centre of York, has been completed.
Situated on Holgate Road, the redevelopment was undertaken by Caddick Developments and sister company Caddick Construction.
The companies spent eight months on-site transforming the building into a contemporary residential scheme containing 50 apartments.
The development has been named ‘The Walk’ due to its convenient location near York railway station and the city centre. It will feature 50 one and two-bedroomed apartments, of which 39 have already been sold.
Residents at The Walk will have access to an electric car charging point and 40 car parking spaces, with prices for apartments starting at £155,000
The project is a joint development between Caddick Developments and The Villas Venture, co-ordinated by Helmsley Securities Ltd.
Helmsley Securities Ltd has been behind other residential schemes in York including Merchant Exchange apartments, Westgate apartments on the banks of the River Ouse, Dixons Yard and Lendal Tower.
Andrew Murray, Managing Director at Caddick Construction, commented: “The building was completely stripped back to the original concrete frame and re-cladded with modern energy efficient materials to create a feature building, on this important arterial road into the city centre.
“This was a quick turn-around project with an imposing deadline, meaning we had less than a year to develop, design and complete the development. I’m pleased to confirm we did exactly that, to an exemplar standard, the end result is impressive and I’m sure all will agree the building is now a significant improvement to Holgate Road.”
