Balfour wins £130M luxury flat project beside the Palace

Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group, will deliver the re-construction services worth £130M as part of Palace Revive Development LTD.

Balfour Beatty was selected for the multi-million pound renovation and new-build scheme on No. 1 Palace Street, in St James’ Park, London. The group will collaborate with the London-based development company Northacre and Palace Revive Development Ltd to deliver services such as programming and procurement, in the lead up to the full construction award which is expected in early 2016.

A six story building will be refurbished along with construction behind retained facades and a complex four-storey basement build.

The development will house 72 apartments, with views of Buckingham Palace gardens and more than 10,000sq.ft of leisure facilities. Designed by architects Squire and Partners, residents will have a state-of-the-art gym with a steam room and sauna, a swimming pool and wellness centre. There will also be an upmarket restaurant, mini-cinema and library. The site will range in architectural style, from the French Renaissance, to Contemporary.

Dean Banks, Balfour Beatty Managing Director of the UK Construction business, said: “I am very pleased that our technical solution to the construction of this complex build has been embraced by Palace Revive Development Ltd and Northacre. Our proven ability to succeed in constrained construction environments in busy city centres means we are well suited to this prestigious project and we look forward to securing the full contract award early next year.

Construction is due to start early January, and be completed by the end of 2017.
