Go Construct attracts 50,000 hits in first three months online

The Go Construct campaign has seen over 50,000 hits and over 2000 downloads of campaign resources in the first three months of its launch.

The campaign was launched on the 7 September, with the aim to encourage people from all different backgrounds to consider a career in construction. With over 50,000 people already on board with the campaign, it is on course to meet all targets, achieving almost half the hits predicted for the whole year, in its first quarter.

Over 220,000 new constructed roles are to be created in the next five years, as Go Construct is the new platform for bringing the industry together. The campaign already has over 4,200 Twitter and 500 Facebook followers.

Free resources such as lesson plans and campaign posters are available via the website, and have been in strong demand, with over 600 individuals and organisations registering to the site. Over 1,100 copies of the educational support toolkit and almost 1000 of the infographics, posters and banner ads have been downloaded on the site.

Sarah Fenton, Strategic Partnerships Director at CITB, said: “Its success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of many people. Not only the team within CITB but hundreds of people, federations and organisations from across the industry who helped us to design and shape it. I want to thank all of them for their on-going championing of the project.”

The campaign has been covered across TV news, press and over 100 radio stations as well as advertising on buses, billboards and magazines across the country. There have also been two buzzfeed articles created in support of the campaign, which have been viewed almost 40,000 times.

Go Construct is funded by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) levy and was developed in partnership with over 700 partners including construction employers, such as the Home Builders Federation and industry stakeholders including FE colleges and Job Centre Plus.

The site was recently nominated in the ‘best user experience’ category at the prestigious UK User Experience awards.
