Construction Expo 2015

Construction Expo is the largest free-to-attend construction, engineering and design conference and exhibition in the South East.

The 2015 exhibition, to be held 7 October, builds upon the achievements of the last year’s Construction Expo, which attracted attendance levels in excess of 2,200 – including a host of major house builders and principal contractors – and featured over 180 skilled exhibitors.

The Construction Expo, sponsored for the second consecutive year by Lee Evans Partnership, will be co-located with the Manufacturing & Electronics Expo at the Kent Event Centre in Detling, Maidstone. Together the two exhibitions embody the construction and manufacturing core of the South East. The region currently accounts for an approximate 35% of the UK’s total construction output – estimated at an astonishing £118Bn in 2014 – and with further growth anticipated event organiser Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce is keen to generate real benefit for local, regional and national companies.

In light of last year’s success, more than 200 exhibitors are expected to showcase their products and services to the South East’s best and brightest businesses. Workshops and seminars on such varied subjects as social media in the construction industry and Building Information Modelling (BIM) will also be available to attendees, in addition to two sessions hosted by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Once again Construction Expo will play host to the UK’s only free-of-charge ‘Meet the Buyer’ event. 22 of the country’s leading contractors and clients – including Kier, Amey, Skanska, Willmott Dixon and Balfour Beatty – will be in attendance, affording SME’s with an exclusive opportunity to meet directly with the buying teams of these renowned organisations.

Meet the Buyer

The centrepiece of Construction Expo remains its wide-ranging programme of prestigious guest speakers. A number of distinguished experts have been invited to share their industry insights, experiences and opinions on a variety of differing topics.

In a keynote speech – entitled ‘Britain, Europe and the World’ – former Minister of State for UK Trade & Investment, Lord Digby Jones, will discuss the tangible opportunities available throughout the construction sector, the critical importance of exporting to the UK and the country’s current position in the global marketplace.

The Government’s Head of Construction, Dr David Hancock, will also explore the Government Construction Strategy 2011, methods to improve project capability and the future of government construction; while Neil Edwards, Chief Executive of the Builders Conference, will look at the billions of pounds worth of projects currently coming online.

Additionally, a progress update on the Paramount Resort Project in Swanscombe is planned which will provide further details on supply chain events scheduled for November.

Speaking of the event, Jo James, Chief Executive of the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, comments: “With only two weeks to go we are very much looking forward to Construction Expo 2015. I truly believe it will be a highly productive day for all those involved and as the South East continues to be the hub of the construction industry in the UK this event is a must attend for anyone related to the sector.”
