University of Manchester announces £350M engineering campus

Earlier today, The University of Manchester announced its intention to invest £350M in a new engineering campus through its Construction partnering Framework.

Appointed one of three framework partners in June, Balfour Beatty will engage with the University over the scheme as construction partner, with a full construction contract award expected Spring 2016.

Part of the University’s capital programme, the new Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD) will be its flagship project. The programme will develop a world-leading teaching, learning and research campus to develop the engineers and innovators of the future.

MECD will be one of the largest, single construction projects ever undertaken by a higher education institute in the UK, transforming the way the University educates future engineers in response to the needs of the fast-changing global economy.
