New M1 road link to boost Bedfordshire economy open

Transport Minister, Andrew Jones, today opened the remodelled Junction 10A of the M1, near Luton.

The new major roundabout connects the M1 spur to the important Airport Way and London Road routes. The scheme received £25 million government funding and will provide easier access to Luton Airport, reduce congestion, and open up future housing and employment developments in the area. It will also improve commercial links between Houghton Regis and the M1 to support Bedfordshire’s economic growth and housing delivery.

During the visit, Andrew Jones also put the first spade in the ground on the Woodside Link road to mark the start of the main construction phase.

Mr Jones said:”These schemes will make it easier for people to access Luton Airport and the M1, providing better journeys for residents and businesses and supporting more housing and jobs.

“The government is committed to investing in faster and more reliable transport links. These road schemes are part of our long term economic plan to deliver benefits for everyone.”
