Building contractor sought for Dublin’s tallest office building

The construction of what will be Dublin’s tallest office building, ‘The EXO’, has taken a step closer following the issuing of a tender for the appointment of a building contractor.

Joint Receivers Stephen Tennant & Paul McCann of Grant Thornton made the announcement along with the news that Savills and CBRE have been instructed to seek pre-letting agreements with tenants.

Standing at 73 metres, The EXO will be situated at Point Square in Dublin’s Docklands and come at a cost of €70M.

Construction of the building will create 350 jobs and take approximately two years to complete.

The 170,000sq ft office block will house up to 2,000 office workers, with commercial and retail space currently in high demand in the area.

Planning permission for the ambitious project was given back in March 2016, less than six months after being submitted to Dublin City Council.

The incredible speed of the process is being seen as a success story for the area being designated as a Strategic Development Zone, which allows for the fast track delivery of new residential and non-residential schmes in locations of strategic importance in the Greater Dublin Area.

Mark Smyth of CBRE commented: “Since planning approval was granted for the development of THE EXO, we have had numerous enquiries from both local and international office occupiers – all interested in being part of an area of Dublin that has been completely rejuvenated.

“ Today’s announcement from the receivers that they intend to press on with development is great news and our focus now is firmly on securing pre-letting agreements with tenants.”
